Joe has a few different locations, and as far as I have sampled, they all serve consistantly great espresso and macchiatos. But only the Waverly Avenue shop has the perfect bench outside to sit on.

The one time that I had an espresso here, it tasted very burnt, but my friend Jon assures me that that was a fluke. Anyway, you'll love to hate the baristas here, who act like slinging espresso put the steam in steampunk.

My favorite brunch spot, hands down. Because of the food, of course--but it doesn't hurt that they have Stumptown coffee, freshly brewed so that even the drip coffee is awesome.
7 Indian Road Café $ New American, Cafes, Soup & Sandwich, Coffeehouse
600 W. 218th St., Manhattan, NYNow, I'm not saying you should come all the way up to Inwood for the coffee, but if you happen to be in this neighborhood, or live in this neighborhood, it's a totally respectable espresso outpost.
