2 Marea 95 $$$$ Italian, Seafood

240 Central Park S., Manhattan, NY

Listed by

Let's get this one out of the way. While it was on everyone's 2009 list, I'm just going pretend this is last year and I'm ahead of the curve. Octopus and Bone Marrow Fusilli at Marea. One of the few dishes even better than the hype.

5 Engeline's $$ Asian: Southeast

58-28 Roosevelt Ave., Queens, NY

Listed by

Sisig. Best pork dish of the year. Filipinos-- I will never question your dedication to eating multiple pork dishes at every meal. Also, I'm a slacker for never writing it up (maybe next year).

6 Mile End $ Soup & Sandwich, Jewish, Deli

97A Hoyt St., Brooklyn, NY

Listed by

French Fries at Mile End. These are my dream fries. You don't even need to get the optional cheese curds and mushroom gravy to make poutine (nor does it need chopped smoked meat sprinkled on top either). Just add a little ketchup for these perfectly crisp skin-on fries.

7 Pirosmani $ Eastern European

2222 Avenue U, Manhattan, NY

Listed by
