I’ve always loved food or at least I don’t have a memory of not liking it. For a large portion of my late childhood and adolescence I envisioned being a chef and acted on it. I’d often cook family dinners, experimenting with both the convenient and the complicated – and welcomed whatever creative license those buying the food would afford me. However, someone very important to me once said to me, in what I’d like to believe was a gesture of love, that great chefs are ‘few and far between.’ And so I moved on. I had a choice and I chose another path. But, that doesn’t mean my adoration of the edible has faded, if anything it’s doubled. In the summer of 2008, after nearly five years of living in New York City, I decided that it was time to really see what this city had to offer. I’d been to a number of great restaurants prior to then, but the urge to see and taste more was mounting, and so I began a journey that continues today. Slainté.
